I suspect my turn-of-the-century desktop browser is about to die on me. I'm kind of stuck with Netscape 7 (running System 8.6 on an antique G3 Mac) which too often freezes when loading, and yesterday it deleted all my bookmarks. As a browser it's now pretty damn basic, ie. crap. It eats all available memory space and I can't run anything large alongside it. The G3 still does everything else that 8.6 can do just fine and e-mail is not usually a problem, it's just never handled html very well. I'll just have to fork out more cash for Airport Express/Extreme and instead browse with my laptop from the comfort of my own sofa. Getting a G5 desktop would be the ideal solution, but then I'd have to upgrade to a more recent scanner and laser printer as well, which would be stretching available finances a little to far.

In other news, I mentioned to [livejournal.com profile] the_magician early last month that I've been working on a CD MP3-zine of assorted Creative Commons and other freely downloadable music which I'll happily (and legally) make available to anyone interested. The music is kind of ambient groove with a hard edge, ie. definitely not the bland shit you hear down Starbucks. I've been playing it in the background for a few weeks now and as compilation albums go I have to say it's pretty decent: it has a beginning, a middle and an end, and engages my mind. All I need to do now is the cover artwork, which I hope to complete within another week or two.

And can I just say today's APoD is a bloody amazing photograph. That is all.
