Boston's loss
Mar. 17th, 2004 08:57 amSlightly depressing news. The famous Avenue Victor Hugo bookshop in Boston is closing in early May, due to a drop in customers (mostly lost, I don't doubt, to the new Barnes & Noble in the nearby Prudential Center). They're discounting everything 50% from April 1st. Even after their move down the street in 2002 this has been one of my favourite bookshops in the whole world ever since I first walked through its doors many years ago.
So as I'll be there next week I can feel a spending spree coming on, but it's a great shame it's going.
