When he can't reach the top bookshelf otherwise, I'd guess.

Surely the yellow pages would be more traditional?

But [livejournal.com profile] autopope failed to win two Hugos and a Seiun. Me, I get to sign up for Japanese lessons as soon as I get home.

Indeed - [livejournal.com profile] autopope is really bad at non-English, non-computer languages so he agreed to pay for the (rather expensive) lessons should Japan get 2007. I should be able to get quite a bit done in three years.

Well, that's when quite a few of us will finally get to go to Japan, I imagine.

FYI: this is the restaurant I suggested:
Buddha's Delight
5 Beach Street, near corner of Washington St.
Chinatown, Boston (Chinatown stop/Orange Line, Boylston St. stop/Green Line)
617-451-2395
Sunday - Thursday, 11 a.m. - 10 p.m.; Friday - Saturday, 11 a.m. - 11 p.m.
All vegan except milk in some beverages, Asian cuisine, extensive menu includes faux meats

and the drinking establishment (http://www.rockbottom.com/RockBottomWeb/RBR/Index.aspx?PageName=/RockBottomWeb/Controls/Location/DisplayLocationRBR.ascx&SectionName=Root.LocationFinder.LocationResults.LocationDetails.OurPlace&LocationID=10058) is just round the corner from it.

And if it's a well-run con I hope we will come away thinking it was a fantastic experience.

Name the time and I'll meet you in the Marriot lobby.

PS. go here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/red_cloud/138942.html) to see what I've been up to in the hour since our last *hic* drink.

Buy more books...

Pete...silly mantra. You know it won't hold.

You will buy more books.
You will buy more books.
You will buy more books.
You will buy more books.
You will buy more books.
You will buy more books.
You will buy more books.
You will buy more books.

You can't win...so buy more books!

Whenever (will text [livejournal.com profile] autopope). We're in room 3716 if you want a view slightly lower, but no less spectacular, than the ones you were showing me. [livejournal.com profile] fluffcthulhu has now posted His pictures.

Okay - [livejournal.com profile] autopope is meeting his editor in the same place at 1930, and he wants me to run an errand for him before then, so maybe around the same time?

Have resisted all day, so am mighty pleased with this uncharacteristic display of self-discipline. Have been drinking instead.

Aha. Drink, resistance is lowered, wander by the dealer area...and you not only have bought more books, but have a hangover as well!

So if you're not going to buy them, how *will* you acquire them henceforth?

Freebies?
Barter?
Trade?
something else?

Only, as a fellow bibliophile, I understand the mantra, but I also know that there are some laws of nature that you just can't violate. Acquiring books is not so much a choice as an unavoidable side-effect of being alive.

So, spill the beans, already!
