Imagine Iain Banks watching TV last night (inevitably with a glass of malt in hand). First he's chuffed with his winning performance on University Challenge (and he's also on Mastermind at 7 tonight), then he turns over and watches Channel 4's 50 Greatest Comedy Films, and sees not only the movie but the precise gag in Dr. Strangelove that he correctly identified on BBC2 not an hour earlier.
Then later he sees another movie up there in the top 10 with which he had an even more personal connection.
