The Al Khufrah Oasis in south eastern Libya, en route to Nairobi, 3 October 2005. The circular irrigation areas are each about 1km in diameter, which is why they show up from the air and can also be seen from space.

I'm just amazed at how rare and exotic you've managed to make the centre of Reading look. It could be Las Vegas.

The rest are indeed breath-taking - thank-you for sharing them with us.

Great photos. I especially like the one of the queue at JFK, and you've managed to capture the "picturesque" bit of Reading too!

What does LA smog smell like?

The fog comes in off the Pacific early in the morning and I've not really noticed any distinct whiff. The LA smog, on the other hand, tends to build up throughout the day and tends to accumulate around the main city centre which is further inland and I don't know what it smells like. I usually stay in Redondo, Long Beach, San Pedro or Santa Monica, which are all along the coast.

Unless of course your question was the first line of a joke, in which case I'll expect the punchline any time soon...

No punchline I'm afraid. :-)

Wow! All beautiful. Do you have a pure photoblog someplace? Cos you should.

I took the same one at the Oracle on 22 December, only about 15 feet further over on the bridge, so the bush isn't in it. It looks better when you took it.

I'll probably end up doing Flickr like everyone else, eventually.

Those are so much fun to look at. And I do wish I could see the Himalayas for myself.
