Feb. 21st, 2006 09:37 pmLast night's flight was somewhat unusual. Flying from Abu Dhabi to London our 777 flew directly over Baghdad, where we were suddenly asked to go round in circles above the city for 30 minutes at 30,000ft (an inconvenience which also burned off 2.5 tons of rocket fuel). The US military still controls the airspace and they were clearly up to something, messing around with civil aircraft movements to make way for something else.
Maybe Cheney's dropping in for a friendly shooting match with Jack Straw? Or perhaps they want to use civil airliners as target practice again and we just got lucky.
