Double amputee scales Mount Everest. Wow. And now, here's me whingeing on about one knackered knee:

Actually, progress hasn't been brilliant this last week. Just when things are getting better, I'm walking normally and taking everything carefully, something happens that makes it go stiff/sore/painful again, like now. It doesn't take much to set things back at least a week. I've tried cycling and swimming, which are now no problem for the muscles around the joint, it's the joint itself that still feels wrong. I'm having a post-op review with the surgeon tomorrow, at which point I will pass on all my concerns to him. It wouldn't surprise me if he wanted to have another look inside to see why things aren't right, and I'm sure he won't be giving the OK for a return to work yet.

Mark Inglis is a big hero in New Zealand after his experiences on Mount Cook. Its good to hear he's still going strong.

TVM for your fanzine which arrived at the weekend. I'll curl up with it tonight.

Bugger. I hope the bursitis has gone down too.

Good luck with the review, hopefully it's just things settling down and nothing too serious.

I suppose given the precedent which has now been set you should now be making plans to at the very least scale the largest mountain in England.
