6) John Berger, and our faces, my heart, brief as photos, 1988
A deep philosophy on human nature in the form of some observant and highly introspective creative writing, this book initially baffled me until I later understood quite easily just where he was coming from. It all made sense in the end, and his commentary on the paintings of Caravaggio is beautifully written and insightful.
