  • Tomorrow the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival in Belfast will be screening a 1990 episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, 'The High Ground'. No big deal, one might say, but:

"We're not showing it in a partisan way, and we certainly don't want it to be seen as any kind of propaganda. We're showing it because of the issues it raises in relation to censorship."

Censorship because this particular episode is still the subject of a strange politically-inspired ban by both the BBC and RTÉ, for daring to mention Irish reunification by 2024.

    How very bizarre.

And how sad in some ways that they feel they have to add the disclaimer.

    I mean, it's Star Trek.

And it's even sadder that the BBC website has to add the backhander:

In the episode entitled 'The High Ground', which some Trekkie somewhere no doubts knows by heart

First guys, check your grammar and spelling. Then get over yourselves.
