One year and four days on Flickr has now given me precisely 15,700 views. Thanks very much, everyone.

I probably say this every month, but these are brilliant and make me want to buy a shiny camera.

That was you at the front with the Canon? Arse. I would have said hello if I'd known. I can identify myself by being the last person to ask a question if that at all helps.

Anyway, great photos as ever. Whilst I own a shiny camera, I'm still a bit rubbish with it and need to practice more. Out of interest, how much do you do in the way of post-processing?

Thanks. Everything I do is digital these days, and I try to keep post-processing down to an absolute minimum unless the image is something obviously contrived. All these here are straight shots, apart from the VC-10 photo which has had some dark areas lightened slightly; usually my post-processing, if any, is limited to dodge & burn. My rationale for converting to b/w is usually "if the colour adds nothing to the photo or isn't part of it's appeal, take it out."

Great interview, huh?

I was curious because a games forum I frequent has a random photos thread and the guys there seem to do a lot of post-processing. I have no idea what this really entails (well, I have an idea but I'm not sure how to go about doing it) and it seems that they spend much more time fiddling with the photo afterwards than actually composing and taking it.

They all take stunning photos and so it's refreshing (read "a relief to a lazy person like me") to see that one can take superb photos without having to hammer them into shape on a computer.

And the interview was indeed superb. I was knackered that day but I'm glad I made the effort. He was lively, enthusiastic and very entertaining to watch - most of which would be lost in a transcript. It's a shame I didn't remember in the morning, so as to bring along some books to be signed. The only Banks signing I've been to was for A Song Of Stone where he remarked that I had a lovely name. :)

Hi,
fringefaan recommended me to your journal. I love your photographs, and am adding you to my friends list. I often use images from lj friends for an online antholoogy that comes out a few times a year (with permission of course), and will probably link my flickr account to yours as well.

And I like your politics too!
