24) Ian Whates, ed., Time Pieces, 2006
I believe I was actually the very first person to buy this book – Newcon Press's first publication – after its launch at Novacon in 2006. There are eight assorted SF stories, all enjoyable and mostly based around time and time travel, with contributions from [livejournal.com profile] mevennen, Stephen Baxter and Jon Courtenay Grimwood, among others. I'm sure most would agree the stand-out story is Ian Watson's 'The Globe of the Genius' – it's scientific, complex, funny and effortless, and the kind of thing he probably knocks off before breakfast. My admiration for Watson's versatility is ever-increasing, these days.
