My Flickr photostream has hit 20,000 views today – thanks to everyone who's ever visited! My most popular photo, for some reason, is this one of Sydney Harbour Bridge (currently 5,563 views). I say "for some reason" because it's not an especially brilliant image, so I really don't know why it consistently gets around twenty hits every single day: Google and Yahoo searches bring in just two or three, but the rest come from the mysterious 'direct traffic'. I hope someone's not making money off this, because I'm certainly not.

I'd say 20,000 is respectable enough for 760 photos, though I've found the male/female dynamic on Flickr to be something akin to a singles bar. If I was an attractive female taking good photos or self portraits I'd have double the views and three times the comments; similarly, if I posted pr0n I'd probably have hit 100,000 views by now...

I'm up to just under 500K on mine - but that's with 3,000 images in the photostream and an image that was picked up by BoingBoing and Lifehacker. That one image currently counts for nearly 150K views on its own and is still racking up an average of 50 or so hits a day...

I've found that using community photo pools really puts up your hits.

At the other end of the talent range, my 6200 pictures have 1300 views. That's with no attempt to advertise them at all.

I'm an ordinary-looking female, so I'm not sure where my dynamic range is on Flickr. People mostly find me through Google Images or Flickr searches, and I try to join groups so I can get some comments that way. But yeah, we are neither of us _rebekka. ;)

Best number of hits ever was when Google featured a photo of mine in a collection of photos that ran for one week.

... and my two (2) photos on Flickr have zero (0) hits, for the moment. Guess I need to advertise somehow ? :-)
