Okay - that first one. A real child or a dummy?

Dummy. Part of my ongoing series of Autons (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ascendent/sets/72157605466920628). This is one of the better ones.

And I've seen her looking far scarier than this.

All stunning work, Pete, but the first one is unbelieveably creepy and wonderful.

Yeah, that first one is really, really creepy. It goes well with the Buddha.

The last one is very strange. Why does it seem like he's levitating? It really does look like it, but I can't tell why.

I'd assume it was an effect of the man appearing darker, as if he "should" be in that shadowed foreground area. But if he's in the foreground, he'd have to be levitating! Hence the illusion.

But I'm only guessing, because I can't see the illusion. It just doesn't look to me as if he's levitating at all.

I think it's also partly his stance, although before I saw Pete's title, my first thought was that he was doing tai chi.

I think it's because the two darker tiles 'underneath' him could resemble his shadow.

Ah, hadn't noticed that. Good call.
