On returning to Reading from the Tun, the smell of fried onions lured me into Gregory's caff, where they cooked me a veggieburger for two quid. Not a smart move, as the aftertaste tells me it was cooked in animal fat and my mouth now tastes like an abbatoir.

Twenty three years of vegetarianism up in smoke. Oh well, I'll start again tomorrow.

But that was a bad move. I avoid such things for exactly that reason... And I do understand the temptation...

If I'm desperate, I ask them how they cook it. Just that, no leading questions...

I'm on about the same length of time, AAMOI...

It might not necessarily be animal fat - could be vegetable fat that's had animals cooked in it, though I realise the result is equally offensive to veterians.
