Invasions From Above
Dec. 2nd, 2010 08:10 amTwo news items battling for my attention today: the white chill of nature vs. the white heat of technology.
Invasion 1: It's 8am, the snow has finally descended on the South East, is a few inches deep outside, and I can hear ambulances. Surely I needn't point out that I'm in England, not @home in Thailand, where it's 25ºC and sunny and, guess what, where I'd rather be.
Invasion 2: NASA will hold a news conference at 2 p.m. EST on Thursday, Dec. 2, "to discuss an astrobiology finding that will impact the search for evidence of extraterrestrial life." (via
