MAJOR GOOD:
Benji was probably Novacon's first Thai member last weekend and she had a great time meeting everyone, especially GoH [livejournal.com profile] autopope, [livejournal.com profile] feorag and [livejournal.com profile] fluffcthulhu (left). Further proof that science fiction eats your brain: she's now looking forward to meeting everyone again at Orbital in March. Thanks to everyone (particularly [livejournal.com profile] major_clanger and [livejournal.com profile] bugshaw) who bought books from this first-time dealer, and congratulations to LH[livejournal.com profile] fishlifter, [livejournal.com profile] bohemiancoast and Pete Weston on their Nova Awards.

Meeting up with [livejournal.com profile] electricant and [livejournal.com profile] zarabee in Sydney for books at Galaxy followed by beer and chips.

Running into the former Thai Prime Minister, Chuan Leekpai, at Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok. A very approachable guy, he was there to drop in on the king who's a bit frail these days.

We have now looked at half a dozen houses around Bangkok, and there are several we think are great but all have different drawbacks. One, however, was especially good and is being renovated at the moment, so we're hoping to speak to the seller soon and perhaps put a retainer on it. Watch this space, but nothing immediately imminent.

MINOR BAD:
The Imperial War Museum at RAF Duxford, where they have a prototype Concorde that Benji was very much looking forward to checking out, was still charging a full entrance fee on Tuesday even though the AirSpace hangar and Concorde were off limits for the day.

Alone now for at least three weeks, most of which time I will again be spending decorating, decluttering and attempting to impose some semblance of order on the back garden in lieu of the strong likelihood of putting the place on the market. An impossible number of both small and large jobs to do...

Still coming next week-ish? Philly? Newark? JFK?

In JFK on the evening of Thursday 15 November, leaving on the 16th around 6pm. Are you able to meet up then?

It isn't looking good. Liz will be working in NYC on Friday (last minute change), Laura has half days, so it is falling on me to be around to meet the bus. Dang parental duties...

Next time! Hopefully!

Too bad. I think I also have a Philly coming up over New Year, unless things change because I have a lot of standby in December.

Hey - good to have an update. Some day we will go to another Novacon.

We're about to head out to New York for the first time tomorrow. I'm very excited.
