"I Sing the Bookshop Eclectic..."

...that's a quote from Ray Bradbury, who has been singing the praises of Long Beach's Acres of Books for more than fifty years. It truly is a huge labyrinthine warehouse where anyone with diverse literary interests could easily spend a whole day, so I have done my usual secondhand-bookshop-thing by spending many hours and several tens of dollars on SF first editions.
On the flight over here I was looking after one Roland Emmerich. A rather taciturn guy, I found, and not too forthcoming when I hinted at my rather high approval of The Day After Tomorrow. Much more fun to be around was Jamelia, who is much younger than her voice and pictures would have you believe. I don't know her music but at least we got to talk about Macs.
Meanwhile, here's the usual boring view from the hotel window, plus four more...

Date: 2004-12-10 02:13 pm (UTC)No, I don't try and keep people out of the pictures, it often just works out that way, especially when photographing from several floors up. Some of my favourite street-level pics are here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/flyingsauce/89418.html).
